Asian Slaw

Yesterday, a large group of our friends got together to celebrate Lindsey B’s birthday.

At the Price is Right of course!

Yes, we all drove a couple of hours to Hollywood in ridiculous shirts to stand in line for hours for just a chance to come on down and win the big showcase.

But for us, the price was very wrong.

So wrong in fact, that we were politely asked to leave. Right before we were about to get our name tags and go sit down.

Apparently we were not enjoying our beverages responsibly enough.

So we dragged our sad booties back to Orange County and wallowed together over really big beers.

To say we were disappointed would be a gross understatement.

So I wanted to give you something that will never disappoint you.

This recipe.

It is perfect on its own or as a condiment. And even though it is an Asian slaw, it is pretty tasty with just about anything.

You will need…

6 green onions, chopped


1 bag of broccoli slaw


1 bag of traditional slaw


1 red onion, thinly sliced


¼ cup soy sauce


¼ cup lemon juice


¼ cup olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh ginger, minced


2 tablespoons white vinegar


2 tablespoons dark brown sugar


2 teaspoons sesame oil


2 teaspoons sesame seed
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon black pepper

In a large bowl, combine both types of slaw, the green onions and the red onions.

Toss so that they are completely mixed up.


About 30 minutes before you are going to serve the slaw, make the dressing.

Combine the remaining ingredients together in a small bowl and whisk well.



Drizzle over the slaw and toss again so that everything is coated.


Serve after the greens have been soaking up the slaw for 30 minutes but not too long so that they don’t get soggy.
